Haiti Now was founded by Joshu Soman in 2008.
Our goal is very simple, to help the orphaned Haitian children in various orphanages throughout Haiti. Most of our funds are made possible through unsolicited private funds.
We are proud to operate without any compensation. Every dollar we receive goes directly to the Haitians in need. We do not use funds for administrative purpose. Our passion is in what we do and what we do is for the children. These children need our help. There is no one else to help them. We are their only hope.
Our goal is to provide every orphan an opportunity to grow up in an environment where they receive love, compassion, happiness and an opportunity to grow into an educated adult through an intensive education programs.
We also provide support to orphanages that are lacking funds to provide the basic needs that are necessary to raise children in a good, clean and safe environment. There is a lot of work to be done as Haiti is scattered with orphanages and some orphanages don’t even have regular meals to serve or a bed to sleep on.
The children in these orphanages don’t know what it’s like to be on a swing or play catch or kick a ball. They are scared and traumatized. Some are abused before they are brought to the orphanages. Our goal is to give them a chance, a chance they never had to begin with. ![]()
Our projects involve building new and safer shelters, building schools, building clean drinking water reservoirs as well as developing education curriculum and job training to prepare orphaned youths for employment after they leave the orphanage.
